He serves as a professor in the Department of Economic Sociology at Istanbul University's Faculty of Economics. His research focuses on the sociology of work, social values, the social impacts of artificial intelligence, and research methods. He graduated from Uludağ University's Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences in 1984 and completed his M.A. (1986) and Ph.D. (1991) at the same university's Social Science Institute.
Throughout his career, he has served as a visiting scholar and researcher at institutions including the European University Institute (Italy, 1988-1989), Turkish World Business Administration Faculty (Azerbaijan, 1996; Kyrgyzstan, 1997), London School of Economics (UK, 2002), James Cook University (Australia, 2005-2006), Washington State University (USA, 2008), Portland State University (USA, 2012-2013), Udayana University (Indonesia, 2017), Eurasian National University (Kazakhstan, 2019), and the Islamic University of Maldives (Maldives, 2024).
Prof. Bozkurt's major works include Değişen Dünyada Sosyoloji [Sociology in a Changing World] (16th ed., 2021), Endüstriyel ve Post-Endüstriyel Dönüşüm [Industrial and Post-Industrial Transformation] (2005), Enformasyon Toplumu ve Türkiye [Information Society and Turkey] (3rd ed., 2000), and Yeni Çalışma Etiği [New Work Ethic] (2000). He has also co-edited The Societal Impacts of COVID-19: A Transnational Perspective (2021), Society in the COVID-19 Pandemic: Inequalities, Challenges, and Opportunities (2021), Cultural Life of Istanbul in Hard Times (2024), and Artificial Intelligence in Education (2025).
